Arab protesters dressed a child in Hamas headwear during a protest Thursday afternoon in east Jerusalem’s Shimon Hatzaddik neighborhood, also known as Sheikh Jarrah, according to a report on Israel National News.

During the protest, the demonstrators demanded the release of an Arab held by Israeli authorities on charges of involvement in terrorist activity.

Arabs and leftists, including foreign anarchists, routinely demonstrate in parts of east Jerusalem, demanding that Jews be barred from living in certain neighborhoods. The protests often include rock throwing and fistfights, but Thursday’s rally passed without serious incident, reported the website.

Left-wing Jewish organizers are calling for another protest in the Shimon Hatzaddik neighborhood tomorrow afternoon.
